I just returned from performing at two clubs back-to-back.  One was a beach club and one was a Yacht Club… and here’s the thing – the shows for both were during the “off-season, ” and both were sold out!

After my shows I chatted with some members and the conversations were similar.  It turns out that members love coming to their clubs on off-nights and during the off-season.  One person said “What a treat that we get one last event before the club closes” while another said, “I’m busy most weekends so a Thursday night show was perfect for me.”

So, when planning your events, think about nights that will really work.  We tend to stick to Friday and Saturday without a second thought – but with school sports, weekend activities, and other priorities like weddings and parties, weekday events may be your biggest hits. And don’t be afraid to make it an early night. Start the show first and then offer the meal.

And for clubs that close for the off-season, consider shoulder season events.  One last hurrah – for the last members, especially if it’s a beach or pool club that has a mostly local membership.
